ATS Participates in Afghan Nowroz Events

In efforts to support the Afghan American Communities, ATS sponsors Nowroz Events in California and New York.

"Nowroz" celebrates Afghan New Year each March 21st. For decades, Afghans have celebrated this special occasion traditionally by cleaning their homes, wearing special and new clothes, and even making New Year resolutions. Though traditional customs are still being observed, new traditions of going to Afghan concerts, Family Days and social gatherings have become a new way to celebrate new beginnings.

ATS is proud to be a part of these traditions. This year we sponsored Ariana Afghanistan TV's Nowroz Concert in California and the Afghan Community Service Center's Nowroz Dinner Gala and Family Day in New York. Both of these events gave ATS a great opportunity to meet members of the Afghan community and show our support in rebuilding Afghanistan. Ariana Afghanistan TV is based out of Orange, California with broadcasts throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

A day before the California event, ATS recruiters Deric Wilborn, Shajia Ayobi, and Jimmy Olivas participated in several community outreach programs in Anaheim and enjoyed meeting many community leaders at local cultural centers and eating establishments. They enjoyed a variation of Afghan recording artists and talent throughout the night. During intermission, ATS conducted a raffle to give amazing prizes such as a big screen TV, Apple iPods and Afghan restaurant gift certificates. Restaurant owners that were at the concert were appreciative to ATS for advertising their restaurants.

On the other side of the country, during the same weekend in New York, similar community outreach efforts were under way by Hamid Majid and Jonathan Patterson. They had the opportunity to discuss ATS' support for families in Afghanistan as well as the many humanitarian efforts our staff are involved in with community leaders. ATS' Jon Hurley and Alan Murphy joined Hayat Masudi, the Afghan Community Service Center's coordinator, for a Nowroz Family Day Event at Flushing High School. The day was filled with games and prizes for the children. The ATS globe stress balls were far from being used for stress that day; the children bounced them throughout the gymnasium! Similar prizes raffled in California were raffled in New York. The winners were not just adults, but children as well.

ATS is proud to announce that our sponsorship donation to the Afghan Community Service Center went to the Sana Orphanage. Sana Orphanage is an independent, non-political, non-profit and non-government organization that provides assistance to the poor and needy children of Afghanistan. Currently they are serving the city of Kandahar. With the support from ATS and that of other similar organizations, they hope to expand to other cities within Afghanistan.

Our dedication to support the communities that our linguists support has become a vital factor in the success of our programs. During these events, community members have said that they have heard genuine, positive feedback about ATS in their community. This has set the precedence for quality employment and concern for all employees, employee's families and communities.
